About Us

WalkingHolidays.co.za was developed and is managed by Trails and Travel CC. The members have both been involved in business for more than thirty years at senior executive level.

Our mission is to research and establish quality walking holiday experiences in South Africa, with routes supported by outstanding personal service. We will only offer a walking trip in areas where we have extensive knowledge of the region. Our approach is to plan a trip meticulously so that you will experience the most idyllic scenery, the friendliest and most welcoming hotels, the tastiest regional cuisine, the most scenic trails and the most outstanding features of the region. Our detailed route notes reflect this approach and in addition you will enjoy our attentive service and support while on holiday.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our holiday is self-guided and we make sure that you have the necessary detailed route information. Your luggage will be transported. Accommodation will include breakfast. Other meals will be up to you. Arrange with your hotel/guest house for a lunch pack of your choice for the following day. A local back-up service is on hand to help with general information, or problems and emergencies. Furthermore, we operate a flexible approach to our holidays. If you want them longer or shorter, please ask - it may be possible!

EXPLORE AT YOUR OWN PACE

We try to ensure that no two days are the same so that your trip is varied and interesting, but typically the morning starts with a leisurely breakfast, a chance to read over the directions and familiarise yourself with the route on the map. When you are ready, you set off from the hotel along an inviting path. There is no rush, so you can progress very much at your own pace, pausing whenever you want to admire the views, to look at the flowers or the birds, or to visit a wine estate. Linger over your picnic lunch at a panoramic spot, and then continue on your way, your charming hotel/guest house soon visible as another rewarding walk draws to an end. We plan our hotel-to-hotel routes so that you typically arrive at your next hotel some time in the mid to late afternoon, with time to freshen up and explore the area before a dinner of delicious regional cuisine.

INFORMATION

All the information that would be required about our routes (Except the detailed Route guide) is on our website. The Route guide, including area information, will be provided before departure. We are, however, delighted to answer any questions either by e-mail or by phone or fax.

FLIGHTS

Getting to the starting point of the trip is up to you. We do not provide air tickets, so that you have the flexibility to find the transportation that best suits you. Your hotel/guest house can normally assist with transfers from the airport to the first overnight stop at extra cost. If you require any assistance or advice, please ask.

PAYMENT:

All prices are in South African Rand. Payment may be made by electronic bank transfer (EFT). Credit card payments are also accepted (MasterCard and VISA only)
